now that you're mentally out of the religion, do you have an expressed goal regarding the witnesses?
do you want to expose the religion for the fraud that it is (like i do)?.
do you want to set up a ministry devoted toward the destruction of everything watchtower?.
Someday, I hope to forget. It's hard to forget about it when I still have family in. I still would like to get my only sister out, she's so unhappy but refuses to listen to any information I have. If there is an opportunity, I do tell other's about my experience with the Witnesses and the things that I have learned about the Borg. I still have hope for my sister and will never give up.
Have I moved on anyway? You bet. My life is great now!

if i do the "guest star" thing, i never talk to anyone.
Truthseeker, I spent over 20 years doing the same thing, just because of family. I was ignored but put on a smiley face. After a while, it was a game. How little could I do, and get away with? I played the game well. Of course I knew I was being "labeled" and marked. But after a while, you get accustomed to being ignored and not part of the "group". It is weird, but only for them. They all think alike, act alike and react alike.

i knew a sister who avoided nail polish because a householder didn't like it.
she wanted to please the lady.
I knew an older sister who hated "I Love Lucy" because Lucy wasn't in subjection to her husband
after being raised as a jw, my dad was df'd for the 2nd time in 1994. that year he lost a wife, 3 children, mother and brother, as well as every friend he had made throughout his 40 years of life.
over the years my sister and i gradually started contacting him, but never had a real father/daughter relationship.
a few years ago, during my divorce, he and i sat down and started discussing his feelings.
What a thoughtful guy your dad is! Please give him a great big "Thank you"!
i joined this site about a week ago and have enjoyed reading all the posts and chatter.
i was raised in the jws, baptized at 17 (didn't know any better) but once i got married and had a baby, i just didn't have enough time to go to all the meetings during the week.
we got the "shepherding calls" and pretty much were looked down on for not going to all the meetings.

As a dub, the Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil" would always creep me out.
I wanted to know how they can justify breezing into town and making judgements on congregations. All they do is look at the congo's statistics and then lecture everyone on how bad they are doing. Must be a real power trip!

my wife and i were both raised as jw, we were both baptized when were fifteen years old.
I admire that you took a stand. By the time you finish reading CoC, you'll be even happier that you walked out on the Elders. Your sons will feel secure that you are supporting them. You are the only support they have until your wife decides to lighten-up on the situation. She may come around if she gets a chance to think for herself and not let others influence her. Please keep us updated on how things are going. You'll get a lot of support here.
